Philippe Guillaud

AI entrepreneur. Engineer. Speaker. Author.
Finding the right words — and building the machines that listen.

About

Two things matter more than anything else:
the eyes and the words.

I grew up between countries, languages and tables where you had to exist without raising your voice — my mother was a diplomat. That upbringing shaped everything I do: I build technology, I lead companies, and I care deeply about how ideas are said out loud.

Today I am the CEO of MatchTune, an artificial‑intelligence company that analyzes music at the scale of the internet — 147 million tracks, millions of social posts — for the world's largest brands and labels. Before that I founded and ran R&D for a security‑technology company acquired by a global group, and led innovation at IDEMIA.

I still write code most days. I sit on boards. I give talks on AI, leadership and communication. And after three years of collecting them, I published a book about the one‑sentence lines that change the temperature of a room.

Based in Los Angeles and Paris.

01

Artificial Intelligence

Audio fingerprinting, multimodal models and trend detection — shipped in products used by Fortune 500 brands.

02

Engineering

Hands‑on engineer with patents in secure embedded technology and a shelf of native iOS and macOS apps.

03

Speaking

Keynotes and panels on AI, music tech, innovation and the art of saying the right thing at the right moment.

04

Writing

Author of The Art of the Punchline, published in English and French, and a regular voice on LinkedIn.

“Hours of meetings are forgotten.
A ten‑word sentence remains.”

— Philippe Guillaud, The Art of the Punchline

Speaking

Conferences, keynotes
& boardrooms

Twenty years of building technology companies on two continents, told without slides‑and‑bullets fatigue. Talks in English or French, from 20‑minute keynotes to half‑day executive sessions.

AI, for real

What artificial intelligence actually changes for a business — and what it does not. From music trend prediction to copyright compliance at internet scale.

The Art of the Punchline

How one sentence turns a negotiation, wakes up a leadership team or makes you exist in a crowded room. Timing, dosage and the lines that travel.

Building between Paris & LA

Founding, funding and scaling on both sides of the Atlantic — what French Tech and Silicon Beach can learn from each other.

Innovation from the inside

Lessons from running innovation at a global group and from the board table: how to keep a large organization inventing.

the Punchline

100 lines to own the room

Be the elephant in the room. For three years I collected the sentences that turn a negotiation around, wake up a boardroom, or make you exist in a crowded room — from Warren Buffett to Churchill, from Seneca to Steve Jobs. For each one: what it means, when to draw it, and a real scene that shows it in action.

  • “Only dead fish go with the flow.”
  • “Trust is earned in drops and lost in buckets.”
  • “When it's fuzzy, there's a wolf.”

You will never again see a silence in a meeting as a void. You will see it as an opening.
